War of the dormers

Last night, net users at my dorm had another meeting on the wisdom of continuing the internet subscription with a local provider amidst the yo-yos and verbal okays of certain uni people. It was supposed to be a GA, but out of the 50+ users, only 14 showed up.

Are we, or aren't we going to terminate the internet subscription? Well, tuloy pa rin, tita. Pero sila na iyon. Even if what the proponents of continuance are holding on is so tenuous that it isn't at all practical to stay online from within. Even if it's not our (net users') asses directly skewered out there on a barbecue stick, but someone else's. That someone stands to lose employment, qualification for other government positions, benefits, and possibly, freedom. Or, maybe, more so because the net users as a group aren't hanging out on a limb just yet. I don't know.

I don't agree with the reasons being given for a C&D order on the internet, but there is an order that apparently has been out there since March. Methinks that in this instance, compliance should be the rule and negotiation must follow. But then, so many eager beavers are so selfish that they couldn't care less about the consequences, and so that's that.

I'm like, adios, internet adorada. At least, from within the dorm. And I'm off the internet committee as well, because of my strong stand on the matter.

Ah, well, that's life. At least I'm enjoying reading my Comm Law stuff and attending ObliCon lectures. Despite the heated confrontation. Despite an attack of tonsilitis. Despite the impending (or is it already actual) meteoric rise in the dorm charges for the electric consumption of PCs, electric fans, cellphones and radios.

Miravite, here I come!
